JOHNSON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Early morning storms caused damage throughout North Texas Tuesday. The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado occurred just west of Joshua, Texas.
Two people were hurt after the storm damaged a home outside Joshua in Johnson County.
There were reports of damage to homes just in the area as residents were met with storms early Tuesday morning. An EF-0 tornado was confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
The home had part of its roof blown off along with other damage was storms moved through at around 3:45 a.m.
The damage was just off FM 917 near Wildberry Trail which is west of Chisholm Trail.
“I just heard howling winds and debris hitting the house,” said Jennifer Chezem. “It came in as quick as it left.”
When Chezem came out of her home at 4 a.m., she found shards of wood and shingles everywhere and her neighbor’s home collapsed. She and others found their neighbor buried underneath her collapsed home.
“We went into rescue mode to try to get her out, and luckily, the fire department showed up because my husband wasn’t able to lift the floor off of her,” said Chezem.
Johnson County Emergency Director Jamie Moore said the woman and her daughter were immediately taken to the hospital.
More damage was found in Johnson County that was caused by the early morning storms.

Chopper 11 flew over damage in DeSoto on Nora Lane near DeSoto High School. The damage included roof damage and fences knocked over.
The City of DeSoto said about 30 homes suffered roof damage in the area of South Westmoreland Road and Eagle Drive. A church and car wash on Belt Line Road also sustained damage.
